 THE DANGERS OF IGNORING GOD.


Anchor scripture.

2 Chronicles 16:12-13

“In the thirty-ninth year of his reign Asa was diseased in his feet–until his disease became very severe; yet in his disease he did not seek the Lord, but relied on the physicians. 

And Asa slept with his fathers, dying in the forty-first year of his reign.”

INSIGHTS:

The above scripture is a narrative of how King Asa's life and reign was cut short because he ignored God who made him King but trusted so much on his wisdom, and the arms of his physicians, and their medicine to heal his diseased feet.  Oh! How pitiable.


You see, God is omniscient and omnipotent, which implies that we should always make him not only our first choice but the only choice, in every aspect of our lives.


Asa trusted so much on medical sciences without first acknowledging God, and he died. God wanted to proof a point to us with Asa as an experimental specimen, that He is over all and fully in charge of our lives, and no one or nothing can take his place. In other words, God is second to none.


Therefore, in whatever thing you do; decision making, taking actions or embarking on any endeavor, always acknowledge God first to get specific instructions on the appropriate and divinely approved steps to take. Do not rely on your own wisdom or depend on the arms of men, because its consequences is death. Learn from the story of Asa and be wise.

Jeremiah 17:5 

Thus says the Lord:

“Cursed is the man who trusts in man

And makes flesh his strength,

Whose heart departs from the Lord… 

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,

And whose hope is the Lord.”


Proverbs 3:5-8

Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.

In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.

Be not wise in your own eyes; reverently fear and worship the Lord and turn [entirely] away from evil. [Prov. 8:13.]

It shall be health to your nerves and sinews, and marrow and moistening to your bones.
